Flip 7 – Quick Start Guide
Goal of the Game
Played over multiple rounds, until a player reaches at least 200 points.
Game Setup
- Number of players: 3-18 (realistically 2-6)
- Age: 8 and up
- Playing time: 20 minutes
- Components:
- 79 Number cards (0-12, 12x12, 11x11 ... 1x1, plus 1x0)
- 9 Action cards (3x each: Freeze / Second Chance / Flip Three)
- 6 Modifier cards (x2, +2, +4, +6, +8, +10)
Preparation
- Shuffle all cards.
- Randomly determine the starting Dealer.
- Set the draw pile within reach.
Setting Up a Round
-
The Dealer deals 1 card face up to every player, starting with themselves.
-
Modifier cards are placed (for each player) above their Number cards.
-
If an Action card is revealed → resolve it immediately.
-
Dealing then continues with the next player, until everyone has received at least 1 card.
-
Important: After this first round of dealing, not everyone will have a Number card in front of them. Whoever received a Modifier card doesn't have a Number card yet. Whoever received extra cards through an Action card may already have three or four cards. This is normal and not a dealing mistake.
Round Sequence
The Dealer offers every player, in turn:
-
STAY: Leave the round → stack your cards and rotate them 90°.
-
HIT: Draw one more card face up.
Special rules:
-
A new Number card you don't have yet → all good.
-
Flip 7: 7 different Number cards → 15 bonus points, the round ends immediately for everyone. Anyone who was still active at that point and hasn't busted still scores their cards as normal, they don't come away empty-handed.
-
A Number card you already have → bust, turn all your cards face down → out of the round. (see Action cards below)
The round ends when:
-
Someone achieves Flip 7, or
-
no one is left in the round.
Scoring
-
Sum of all Number cards.
-
Multiply by the ×2 card if applicable (Number cards only).
-
Add the value of your Modifier cards.
-
Flip 7 = +15 points. (Value flexibly adjustable in the app)
-
Write down the points and add them to your previous round total.
Tip:
Use the helpful app during the game to record everyone's scores faster.
Next Round
-
Set aside all cards from the last round.
-
The previous Dealer passes the remaining draw pile to the left, to the new Dealer.
-
If the draw pile is empty between rounds → shuffle the discard pile → new draw pile.
-
If the draw pile runs out in the middle of a round, all cards already dealt stay in front of the players (including busted players) → only the set-aside cards are shuffled and used as the new draw pile.
End of the Game
-
As soon as a player reaches at least 200 points at the end of a round, the game ends. Whoever has the most points wins.
-
If several players reach 200 or more points in the same round, whoever has the highest score among them wins immediately.
-
Only in case of a true tie is one more full round played with all players, until there's a clear winner.
Action Cards – Details
-
Freeze: Choose an active player, they are out of the round, turn their cards face down. Their points still count at the end of the round. If you are the only active player left, you must apply the card to yourself.
-
Second Chance: Protects you once from busting when you draw a duplicate Number card. Set both cards aside together. This also applies if the duplicate shows up during a Flip Three: the Second Chance can be used immediately there too. Max. 1 card per player; pass on a second one. Discarded at the end of the round.
-
Flip Three: Choose an active player, you may also choose yourself. That player draws 3 cards one at a time. If they bust or achieve Flip 7, drawing stops immediately.
Action cards revealed during this are only resolved after all 3 cards have been dealt, or the player has busted.
Busted? That player must then give the Action card(s) to another active player of their choice.
Tips for Beginners
-
Keep track of which Number cards have already been played.
-
Flip 7 scores points immediately and can decide the game.
-
Use Modifier cards cleverly: they add points without any risk of busting.
-
Weigh risk against safety: too much risk → bust, too cautious → missed points.
